CABIN FEVER

August 8, 2009

The children have had blood work done (Thursday) and seen the physician (Saturday) to ensure their health is up to par. There has been much playing in the gym, and jocularity amongst the youngsters. Morale is good and the children are adorable and sweet for the most part. They are so well behaved its unbelievable really.

On Wednesday we went to the park and had a great time of play on the wings, and monkey bars and the slides. It was amazing how excited the children were to use the playground. They are a fantastic reminder of just how much in life we take for granted, and how they appreciate the simplest things.

Thursday starts the more serious practices, as I’m currently writing this section (Thursday morning) the East team is in the midst of their first choreography practice with the West team to follow later. The children have already undergone their first few lyrics practices, and it is incredible how much they love to sing the songs, even when they aren’t in practice; this is both a blessing and a curse, because now I have 15 kids singing the same songs the entire time they are awake, its cute, but not THAT cute.

I had my first bit of sound work Friday, which simply included setting up our sound system in the gym so it could be used for large group practices. It’s fairly simple, but I love doing all the sound work. After all, its what I went to school for.

Saturday we were cleared to be in public… Which is a good thing, were we to be here much longer I feel like the children would start to develop a bit of cabin fever and ultimately go crazy, which in turn would not be very good for us “adults.”

Vehicle Training will start soon, I’m looking forward to practicing as much as possible with the Truck (Ford f-350 Dual wheeled) and the fifth wheel RV, as well as the Mid size Bus, and the accompanying 20’ trailer. I’m excited to drive these things, but I’m also terribly nervous about it as well.

here are a few pictures for those of you who are not friends with me on facebook.
